Alex Hunt shows how soccer SHOULD be played (without drama)

Germans are impossibly efficient and honest, which is why the rest of the world could learn a few things from them when it comes to Soccer (Football, for you backwards brits). Aaron Hunt from the bundeslige is tackled and given a penalty but he refuses to take it, insisting he has not been fouled.

In all fairness to his opposition FC Nürnberg, the end of the clip is of their similar reaction when Aaron has tackled their player in a fair but rough way. The more impressive part being that their forgiveness came at the start of the game when the score was 0-0.

Italy, Spain…. well… most every soccer playing nation could learn a few things from Aaron. I love watching sport, but any time it becomes more about acting than sport I am happy to call it the comedy it is. Soccer is quickly heading that way as the cashed-up pros do anything to get more cash in their multi-million dollar deals, so I hope they learn a few things about fair play from Aaron.

The. Best. Prank. Ever.

Amazing job, gentlemen.

That is all.

RIP James Gandolfini

James Gandolfini, best known as TV’s Tony Soprano has died at the age of 51. If you’ve never seen The Sopranos then you really should fix that as it is the most entertaining and philosophical mafia story that exists to date. The depth of characters, especially the protagonist played by Mr. Gandolfini, are among the best on television.

RIP James.

Replace the OSX trashcan with the Mac Pro trashcan

Since Apple announced their 2013 Mac Pro design, every time I looked at my OSX trash can icon I kept thinking it should look like the new Mac Pro. So I made it happen. These are original icons made for and are CC-BY-SA licensed so don’t be a dbag and linkback if you post these elsewhere so I get some google juice.

The trash can has an ’empty’ & a ‘not empty’ state and OSX has 2 icon sizes by default so click here to download a .zip file which contains these 4 icons. It goes without saying that if you plan on changing your icons back at some stage then you need to make a backup before replacing them. It turns out to be very easy to change a default icon, simply locate the original icons in finder and replace them with the new ones. You can find the icons by following these steps in finder:

Mac HD > System > Library > Core Services >

Right click (option click) on ‘Dock’ and select ‘Show package contents’

Contents > Resources

The .png files you need to replace start with the word ‘trash’. Once you paste the new files into finder you’ll need to click ‘authenticate’ and ‘replace’ before putting in your administrator password as these icon files are system files and locked with password by default. Hope you all enjoy!

A beautiful animation to match a beautiful explanation.

Sorry Jony – the new Mac Pro is NOT revolutionary

Pro’s don’t want a pretty case, they want a computer they can easily upgrade and replace parts. At present the only user replaceable internal hardware on the new mac pro is RAM. Everything else they expect you to sit on your desk and run Thunderbolt cables to it. This design sucks, and iOS7 is merely iterative of Android’s ICS.

W3C: Don’t put DRM in HTML5

Go sign this petition to the W3C to keep DRM out of the HTML5 standard. DRM exists to break the internet and break the freedoms of us, the users and creators of the web, to build and evolve our creation as we want, not in the ideal image of multimillion dollar corporations.
